Coleção Fernando de Noronha
2019
For the 2019 Collection, Pedro Franco chose Fernando de Noronha Island. The region is much more than a preferred destination for national jet-setters. Discovered in the mid-1500s, it has transitioned from a prison and military base to UNESCO World Heritage status.
Noronha was selected as the theme for the 2019 Collection following Pedro Franco's visit to friends living in the region.
Rich in history and fascinating characters, one such figure is the iconic "Ilhéu" known as Túlio, the Great. Túlio lived on the island for almost his entire life. He was constantly seen with a trident, as he dove (freediving) to great depths (60 meters) and used his trident to ward off sharks. Additionally, Túlio explored agriculture on the island, cultivating pumpkins on large plots of land. This activity displeased the military, who expelled him from the island. He passed away months later, heartbroken over his inability to return.
Noronha is also renowned for having one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Praia do Sancho.
The sunrise, sunset, and twilight in Noronha form the basis for the new collection to be presented by A Lot of Brasil at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan.
