Vico

Magistretti

Vico Magistretti (1920–2006, Milan) was one of the most influential figures in Italian modern design. Trained in architecture at the Polytechnic University of Milan, he built a prolific career across architecture, urbanism, and industrial design.

He collaborated with leading brands such as Artemide, Cassina, Kartell, Fritz Hansen, and FontanaArte, and received numerous awards, including multiple Compasso d’Oro prizes. His work is part of the permanent collections of MoMA in New York and other major museums worldwide.

Known for his refined use of color, clarity of form, and timeless elegance, Magistretti created the “Golem Chair” for A Lot of Brasil shortly before his passing — a piece inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, closing a career that continues to influence generations of designers.
